Fire cider aka Master Tonic
Our spicy fire cider is ready ! Just in time to support winter wellness. This master tonic is to be used on an onset of a cold or flu to improve circulation, the immune system and being a ‘bitter’ it will support the digestive system . Fire cider was first formulated by Rosemary Gladstar in the 80’s and she should be worshiped for it . It’s simply an incredible wellness tonic.
This master tonic is packed full of anti viral, anti bacterial and anti fungal organic and homegrown ingredients including horse radish, turmeric, ginger, lemon, garlic, onion, chillies, apple cider vinegar, raw honey and anti microbial garden herbs including calendula and thyme. All the ingredients are organically grown on the farm apart from the turmeric, NZ ginger, apple cider vinegar and local raw honey.
Comes with instructions + ingredients
This tonic can be taken ( sipped on ) before meals to better digestion, or when a catch a cold or flu.
Horse radish : We grow this in abundance in the garden, its hard to find fresh so grow it if you can! Horse radish works as a natural mild anti biotic. It helps your body get rid of mucus, which when stagnant can become a breeding ground for bacteria that can then lead to serious infections. Horse radish thins the mucus, this makes it easier to cough out and for the body to expel. Initially though, the mucus product can increase but this is a good sign that your body is doing a good job cleansing. Great sinus support.
Raw local honey : anti microbial and great to keep lessen/supress seasonal allergies (immune modulator) . A teaspoon of honey itself is a great protocol to soothe coughs.
UPDATE ! This year I have infused the honey with calendula !
Turmeric: Be all and end all of food really. Turmeric is what gives this tonic its orange hue and staining effect - beware of surfaces ! Powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, anti fungal, and anticancer properties. Wow... a mouthful!
Ginger : A favourite of mine for muscle pain, unsettled tummies, respiratory infections, bloating and coughs.
Chillies: Head ache and sinus relief, boosts metabolism and we all know what that means!
Garlic : I grew the sweetest little garlics this year! They are used to build your immune system and help lower high blood pressure
UPDATE My garlic didn't make it through winter (2017). I have brought organic NZ grown garlic.
Onions : Anti inflammatory properties and great to boost cardiovascular heath. These were grown and harvested from the garden.
Lemons are high in vitamin C, great for colds and flus and for digestion! I collected these from the lemon tree at my sons play centre :) Thanks Kaukapakapa play centre !
Calendula and thyme, nastursium and echinecea from the garden : my favourite herbs that cover an array of anti microbial i.e anti bacterial, anti viral, anti fungal. Echinecea acts as an immune stimulant and nastursium is high in vitamin C
Wild harvested rose hips : Wild dog rose hips harvested in autumn. They are packed full of vitamin c and power antioxidants!
Apple cider vinegar: I am sure their is a whole book written about apple cider vinegar, its great for so many alignments and should be used everyday! It is is known to be a good source of acetic and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), mineral salts, amino acids, and other key components of good nutrition, but it is also a well-loved folk remedy thought to ease digestion, fight obesity and diabetes, wash toxins from the body, kill lice, and reverse aging.. I could go on forever.
